The B.A.R.E (Brick, Appliances, Rods & Electricity) collection, launched in 2021, represents the studio’s commitment to radical circularity and social design. Originally conceived for the Materia Gris exhibition at CentroCentro Cibeles in Madrid, these lamps served as the primary strategy for a zero-waste event, leaving no material residue behind after the exhibition’s closure.

The design philosophy focuses on an economical and intuitive manufacturing process, utilizing readily available industrial materials such as Spanish hand-crafted bricks, metal rods, and electronic quick connectors. A pivotal aspect of the project was its collaboration with the Norte Joven Association. Students from this social project, who are at risk of social exclusion, were responsible for the production of the lamps. This exercise transformed their typical vocational training—usually focused on domestic electrical installations—into a refreshing and abstract creative task that enhanced their technical understanding and motivation.

The collection’s circular model also featured a unique funding strategy: visitors could pre-purchase the fixtures via QR codes during the exhibition. Upon closing, the original units were delivered to their buyers, generating a 3,000-euro surplus donated entirely to the Norte Joven social project.

The B.A.R.E series offers five distinct iterations, each exploring the versatility of its raw components:

Small Circular & Small Simple: Table lamps featuring hand-crafted bricks; the Circular model includes a glide-rail system for flexible light direction.

Single & Double Curved: Sculptural designs available as table or floor lamps, utilizing the dynamic character of curved brickwork to create balanced, ambient illumination.

Tall Floor: A sleek floor lamp utilizing airbricks with adjustable height and inclination, allowing for a highly personalized lighting experience.

By merging artisanal craftsmanship with industrial simplicity, the team has created a highly reproducible model that continues to evolve, proving that sustainable lighting can be a powerful tool for social and environmental change.
