Developed in 2023, Huerto Norte is an urban agriculture project located in the Fuencarral-El Pardo district of Madrid. This intervention serves as a pedagogical and productive hub for the Norte Joven Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to the social and professional integration of youth at risk of exclusion. The project reflects the studio’s commitment to "social design," where the built environment acts as a catalyst for community development and environmental education.

The design team conceptualized the space as a 500m² edible ecosystem that balances functional agricultural production with educational zones. Built using sustainable and locally sourced materials, the garden features a series of modular cultivation beds, a composting station, and a nursery area. The studio’s intervention focuses on creating a "living laboratory" where students can learn about sustainable food systems, biodiversity, and the circular economy through direct contact with the land.

True to the studio's philosophy, Huerto Norte was built using low-impact construction techniques. The project emphasizes the use of recycled wood and permeable surfaces to ensure proper water management and soil health. Beyond its physical structure, the garden is designed to foster horizontal relationships: it is a place where professional training meets community gathering, providing a green sanctuary within the urban fabric of Madrid.

Categorized under "projects," Huerto Norte exemplifies how design can transcend aesthetics to address food sovereignty and social justice. By transforming an underutilized plot into a fertile learning ground, the team has provided Norte Joven with a tool that nourishes both the local ecosystem and the professional futures of its students. https://vimeo.com/970108639?fl=pl&fe=sh
